2020 Kia Soul Overview – Cargo Space, Updated Powertrain, Tech Features, Configurations
Planning out that yearly family trip? Put the newly redesigned 2020 Kia Soul on the checklist. The new 2020 Kia Soul is more practical than ever, sporting 24.2 cubic feet of cargo space, and an unbelievable 62.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down. That’s more cargo space than you get in most sub-compact SUV’s, Hatchbacks, Crossovers and some small SUV’s – Like the Jeep Renegade, Buick Encore, Subaru Crosstrek, Nissan Rogue Sport and Mazda CX-5! Cargo space is more in line with its bulky competitors in the crossover market – Honda H-RV and Nissan Kicks. Where did the Utility in Sports Utility Vehicle go?
With its new redesign the Kia Soul has added even more functionality adding 5 cubic ft of cargo space, 0.2 inches front legroom, wider opening doors, wider hatch opening and lower hatch deck loading height. This means ease of loading/unloading has gotten even easier, so getting the car loaded up for a getaway weekend with the kids, coolers and camping equipment is a breeze.
The Kia Soul’s boxy exterior isn’t just for unique looks, it’s shape contributes to the spacious interior and cargo room you receive inside. The interior isn’t the only thing that acquired updates on the 2020 Kia Soul redesign. Kia updated the vehicle with a new “Soul”, now standard is a 2.0L inline 4 boasting 147hp to the front wheels, also available is a 201hp 1.6L turbocharged inline 4 for the motorsport enthusiast inside you. Previously the Kia Soul came standard with a 1.6L inline 4 with the 2.0L being optional. The Soul inherited an updated CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) mated to the standard 2.0L procuring even better fuel efficiency than before – 27mpg city/33mpg highway combining for an average 30mpg. Manual transmission is still standard on base models versus the more efficient automatic CVT, but the CVT is still optional on the base model LX. Besides its updated squinty facelift and rear window framed taillights, the Soul comes standard with plenty of tech features like the easy to navigate and responsive 7-inch infotainment system, a rear view camera, Bluetooth, Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
